Four Year Blogiversary (+ Major Changes?!?!?)

It's my blogging anniversary today, friends! And guess what? I’ve been blogging for four years.

I’m not entirely sure what to say. Much of the days go by pursing the little moment gems tucked away in the sea of mundanity—today, it was texting a friend snail jokes. When momentous occasions happen, I’m rendered speechless. I am thinking everything and nothing, a paradox with repelling forces existing where it shouldn’t exist. Uncertainty lingers longer. Things go timey-wimey, according to the Eleventh Doctor.

If I had to say anything, it would be this: wow. I’ve grown from a middle school child who created a blog during a time artistic spontaneity to an individual stepping outside of the house for the first time, and all up to someone who has learned to experience what life has thrown in front of them, one day at a time. Now? I’m a high school student who’s looking on readily at life after I graduate. Plus, I also have much shorter hair than I did in middle school and more food photos on my camera than I can count. Growing up is scary. No matter what the future may hold, this blog is always going to be a part of who I am.

Some major changes are coming up here on the blog. I heard this analogy of people constantly changing. The atoms which compose us slowly change, and every second, we are becoming someone new, still with the same initial core, but a new individual altogether. The two major changes that will be coming up relate to names and tie into the analogy well. Change is hard. It’s been a feuding battle for me to make these decisions, but hopefully they are for the best.

// My blog title, The Ups and Downs of My Not-So-Average Life, will still formally hold, though stylistically it will be referred to as Ups & Downs. My naming skills in my youth were okay at best, and the blog title is somewhat of a mouthful to state. The core of the title will still hold, although it will be referred as Ups & Downs. What each reader wishes to call it to be up to them.

// Secondly, the even scarier decision which still terrifies me as I type this. In life, people have many names, whether they are adorning nicknames from friends or a shortened version of their actual name. MorningTime4 has been a name that has been around for such a long time, but now, I am going to change to my real name, Abigail. If you're confused by all the bloggers with the same namesake, you can call me Abigail Lennah. This decision is made due to thinking about the future and college, and if I would like to remark that I have blogged during high school, this is the place to go. MorningTime4, like my blog’s name, still is a part of who I am—in fact, the nickname “Morning Time” has stemmed long before my blogging days—so if you still wish to call me by screen name because you get confused by the other Abigail bloggers or if you're too stubborn on calling me by anything else, by all means, go on ahead. I’ll still refer to myself as Morning on many occasions.

Now, away with the sappiness! Here’s a well-known fact: bloggers tend to have a ton of food photos on their camera that they simply cannot use for blogging. That logically makes a lot of sense. So, to make up for that, the section below is dedicated to all the delicious, scrumptious food that now have their chance to shine.

Before I close out for the day, I would just like to thank all of you for sticking by these past four years. I know that I haven’t returned to stamina my blog’s golden age had because of other life commitments, but it’s because of you all that I keep this going. There are so many countless people I want to thank, but just remember—you all rock my world. Now go and join the comment party on the Guestbook page (and maybe suggest to be part of another blogging project I'm brainstorming, I don't know).

    1. THANK YOU SARAH!!! I feel really bad because I just now have the time to dedicate to meeting new blogging people and getting to know them better... and then I see the post about you not being able to blog for over a year. :'( WHEN YOU COME BACK POSTING WE SHALL CELEBRATE but right now, I'll try to keep in touch with you via comments as long as I can.

Food photos. Five of the many that are still waiting to be posted. I... I actually don't remember when I took the Oreos photo. My family usually gets Oreos in the cardboard box, not the plastic sideways containers... weird! xD And so the mystery continues.

      xoxo Morning

  2. Whoo!! Go you - four years of blogging is a long time! I always liked the name Abigail, and to think that's your name! I can see how it would've been hard to share it with the world though.

And I appreciate the need for food photos. They look very tasty. :)

    1. It's so weird-- whenever I go to church conferences, Abigail isn't a common name, but so many people compliment it. This one intern who was a volunteer from Iowa or one of the Midwestern states actually talked to me a lot because she wanted to get to know someone with my namesake better. You'd think that it'd be a common name, especially at a church conference, but it isn't-- Mary's the most common, though. It's really hard. I'm still uncomfortable sharing my name (it's going to take awhile to phase out of the way I usually end comments) but hopefully this will get better.

Food photos make everything better... unless you thinking of food and then realize the agony that's associated with waiting to eat! :P

      xoxo Morning

  3. HAPPY BLOGIVERSARY ABIGAIL!! Four years, what an accomplishment. I'm so happy for you! And congrats on releasing your real name. I get the feels man. I'm now drooling over those delicious food pics. Thank you haha.

Wishing you the best with Ups & Downs!

    1. Haha, you know you can also call me by Abby, right? It's usually how I'm called in everyday life, which is awkward when there are five others in the hallway with the same name as you-- when someone screams your name, all five of you have to turn around. It's an unspoken rule. I remember when you revealed your name to actually be Anna and not June. How does the awkwardness of name sharing fade away??? It's still so uncomfortable.

We bloggers really need to have like a tea party or a potluck and just take a bunch of photos. THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN. <3

  4. There is so much to love and appreciate about this post! I love that you see all the growing you have been doing over the past few years! The fact that you are going to use your name and change up your blog title a little is so exciting. I love the mature sound of Ups & Downs! You posts are always quality content and I am happy to follow you along your life journey.

    1. Growing up with a blog both has its perks and downsides, the downsides being cringy old posts you don't want to take down for sentimental reasons but still cause your eyes to squint really narrow like you just ate a sour lime because they're that cringy. I'm super stoked for these changes! Hopefully a new blog design can be implemented sometime this weekend to reflect these new changes-- I've got a really good font combination in mine, and that's all I have really going for me with this design at the moment. I'm happy that you follow along on my blogging journey, as well. You're one of my favorite bloggers, and it's always nice to hear from you as well, especially with your perspective about college and how life coincides! You've got such amazing insight that I love reading about.

    1. I used to think that having such a long first name was a mouthful, and even when I was younger, I thought that Lennah (pronounced "Lehh-nah") was my middle name because having two parts of a first name is weird, but it's really not that weird at all! Most of the time I just refer to myself as Abby, though. <3

I know you've just started blogging publicly for a couple of months, but believe me when I say that time flies incredibly fast with blogging-- you'll have posts you look back onto two years from now and think, "Whoa, my writing style has changed a lot" or, "Aww, this was a cute post," to, "AHHHHHHH!!!" *makes cringy sour face* And mostly when you blog, is a mixture of all of these, but still, nostalgia just kicks in and you love old posts netherless. To another year of blogging!

    1. Hi, Lexie! Like I stated in the post, you don't have to call me Abigail (or Abby) if you feel like it's weird calling me anything other than Morning-- feel free to still call me that! It's incredible to see the many blogging friends I've made over four years, like you! I've known you for such a long time now, and it still boggles my mind that all of these bloggers are still hear and growing and honing their craft. Whoa. <3

    1. Faith! Long time no see! Four years is such a long time-- you've been blogging for way long though, and that's just something that completely blows my mind you have literally watched so many people come and go, and yet you're still here, still writing and persevering. Way to go!

Yes, cinnamon rolls. They are some of my favorite things after doughnuts-- I'll send you a virtual cinnamon roll (because aren't they just yummy?)! *sends cinnamon roll* And gah, thank you so much. <3 Revealing my name online is one thing, but being called by my full first name-- it's going to take time to get used to.

It seems as though February is the month of Blogiversaries. Eh? ;)

      *cheers with Kenzie* Thanks. <3

P.S. Okay, but seriously though, have your tried deep fried Oreo dumplings? They are some of the most delicious things ever.

  17. HAPPY BLOGOVERSARY, ABIGAIL!!!! That is so EXCITING <3 *hands you virtual cake* I think I'm coming up on four years too...in March? But I'm not sure if I'll do anything for it or not...I CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING.

Also dude seriously those food pictures are making me so hungry right now xD EEEP your name is so pretty too, by the way <3 I feel like there are a lot of people who have that name, but yet at the same time not? It's a common name, but I don't know a lot of Abigail's. I wish I could say my real name on the blog as well, but *sigh*. Perhaps one day!

    1. *hoarks down virtual cake* *gets full* EEEEPPP! When your blogiversary pops up we shall plan something with lots of food and hugs and it will be the greatest of your blogiversaries. xD

I feel like Abigail is a pretty common name, but it also really depends on where you live? In smaller towns it may not be as common but some places will have like five of them showing up in a two yard proximity to one another.

Don't fret about not sharing your real name on your blog just yet, Autumn. There are both good things and bad things about sharing your name, and let me tell you that for awhile, it's going to feel different (in the kind of, "AHHH! What am I doing I have been brought up for this many years to not say my real name but GAHHHH!"). I'll still probably call you Autumn though, while screaming and fangirling over your real name.

Surprisingly, Autumn is a pretty common name where I live, as well! Huh... :D
