Working to Balance the Good and the Bad

Have any of you experienced one of those last few weeks of the school year where you end up waking up super groggily and grumpy on a daily basis? This past week has been one those weeks. I have been placed in charge for managing certain tasks by my teachers that I wasn't necessarily ready for. Let me tell you, the world has given me things to ponder.

But just because my week was horrible didn't mean that no goodness came out of it. On Friday, I went to an audition-- a practice one (I wasn't really trying to audition for the show; I just came to practice auditioning skills)-- and surprisingly, the directors were impressed with my cold reading of a game show host caricature of a character.

Saturday was our season's first outdoor meet, held at my school. Half of our school's team was competing out of town, and the twenty of us who stayed behind had to tackle on the many events that remained untouched. My friend and I got to the area at about ten, and honestly, I just remember making smiley faces out of oranges, stretching, talking, and a race of mine.

Today was the last day of catechism class, which I mainly came for the fact that we were all going to spend an hour playing on my church's playground. There's this aspect of reaching your teens or when you are college aged and encountering a chance on going on a playground: that childhood self in you will come out and take form. I watched this happen as about seventy percent of our class ended up arguing about going onto the six-seated swing set. Ah, the freedom of being a little kid.

I also got to talk to some old friends of mine too, that I sometimes see at school but can't talk to often. We talked about one of my friends who had moved away some while ago and how even if it has many months since they have left, it still feels strange, like a void in the spectrum of life. Funny, how when you talk to people you actually listen and the same way goes around, swapped.

I like talking to people in my grade sometimes, even when I am younger than the majority. I spend my time talking mainly to little kids for their openness, college-aged instructors for their daring spirits, and the elderly for their wisdom, but to speak to someone from your own grade is a different story. I don't usually converse the same way that others do, but it was a nice change, for once.

My middle school friends and I have been planning a reunion, and well, expect to see some playground madness photos that may pop up at the end of May. The world is an odd place with the ability to give to you the good and the bad, but you know, I'm working on it.

What have you all been up to lately?

  1. Your bad week and my bad week coincide. Like you, I've woken up every morning quite grumpily. It must be the added stress now that my school has started again.

Your photos are quite extraordinary. :) hope all goes well with the reuinion!

    1. Is it just me, or is it that the worst weeks are school are the last ones because you are stressed out about finals and you are inching for break? But school started up for you-- I suppose it must be the same thing when school starts, too.

Thank you for the compliment! I hope the reunion goes well, too. To try to round up all nine of us in our friend group, especially when two of them have moved to one side of town-- or a neighboring suburb, it's really difficult! I imagine it's hard when people try to attend college reunions, too! The planning, goodness!

I'm replying to let you know I've tagged you for something on my blog, in case you'd like to do it. :)

    3. Sweet! I'll check it out. I don't do many tags anymore (I'm doing one on Friday though) but I will check it out! ^.^ This is going to be great!

    1. Haha, you love the orange mustache face and the swing chain? I love the orange mustache face, too! It's my favorite! And aww, you are too kind. I wish I had more people to photograph; it would be nice, especially if I took photos at my school with friends! My school has been standing up on it's structure for nearly 50 years now and since they are renovating it, the fusion of old building and those construction boxes would be nice places to take photographs with.

  3. Oh dear... Sorry to hear your week has been a challenging one! I had a busy week as I have been au pairing for a sweet friend and taking care of her four little boys has left me pretty tired! But I have enjoyed the challenge and also their sweet little faces!
    I love all your photographs!
May this new week be a blessed and beautiful one for you!

  4. I'm sorry to hear that you've been feeling this way. My week has been great, but I know the feeling of being cranky everyday.
Just wondering, but did you get a new camera? Your photos are amazing!
I hope things are a bit better this week. :)

    1. Crankiness! I try to rid of myself from the negativity every day but it's hard because the world surrounding me is filled with such negativity-- or at the very least, the harsh realism of what life expects from you.

And a new camera? If you mean over the past several months, I have gotten a different digital camera model, but that's it. I'm hoping and saving up to get a DSLR some time soon! But thank you so much! I've been practicing how to take better photographs but taking photos of the flies that are sitting on my backyard's porch. ^.^ The hard part is to try to not let them fly away!

  5. I know those weeks well. I usually don't want to be around anyone and I just feel down. Its great your keeping busy. You must be an awesome actress, Morning! <3 My week has been good, a bit boring, but good. I have really just been doing school, practicing songs for church every week on the piano, helping around the house and choir.:) I'm totally gonna check out your Pinterest:)

    1. Yeah, sometimes I just want to curl up in my room and just read and cool down from the stressful week, you know? I wish I were an awesome actress. One of my goals before I graduate is to land a lead role in a show (preferably a musical, since singing + acting = A-M-A-Z-I-N-G-N-E-S-S!) but it would rock! At least your week sounds great! It's nice to have a bit more variety though sometimes, right? ^.^

I'm so glad that you are looking at the day with such a positive out look on life, in general! ^.^ Most of the time, I look at the days like this too, but when I have too much on my hands, it's hard for me to do like so.

  7. I'm sorry to hear that you haven't had a great week- I hate that feeling. Those photos are amazing!

    1. I really despise the feeling -- "hate" is such a strong word. I hope you get better from your cold! They are the worst! And oh, a school trip! Funny, I'm going to embark on one tomorrow! It's just going to a movie theatre and eating pizza, but hey, when you are in one of the older grades, it's about as best of a field trip in town as it gets!

    3. I just came back from the trip! The pizza was great, and the movie was funny (but not really memorable). To be honest, I love overnight field trips. The last one I went on one for school was for space camp in sixth grade, and that was one of the best field trips I have embarked on. I hope you have a great field trip! ^.^

  8. The school year is rushing by so fast... I'm almost not a freshman anymore.
I don't think anyone ever outgrows playgrounds, society just tells us that we're not allowed to have fun once we pass the age of ten :/

    1. My friends and I were literally talking about this! I was like, "Whoa, I can't believe the school year has gone by fast!" High school will fly by before we know it! I wonder why society is like that, saying that everyone is too old for playgrounds... sometimes, I don't like the rules society has because it restricts imagination, freedom, and creativity. It's hard for me sometimes.

  9. Aw, too bad you've been having a bad week. I know all about cranky days and grumpy mornings. I have them every Monday when I realise there is school :(
But hey! Playgrounds are cool, and I hope you had fun! :)

P.S- I nominated you for the Liebster Award on my blog. I hope you have fun doing it!

    1. Playgrounds are so cool! And Mondays are that one day where everyone is cranky. It's one of those things that you don't have to think about but everyone around you understands, too. In school we've talked about removing Mondays, but then Tuesday/Sunday would become the new Monday, thus defeating the purpose. It is better to have one grumpy day better than many, right? Maybe we're just suffering the Monday blues. :P

  10. I hope this week is better for you, Morning. I've been praying for you. It looks like you and I both have had a beautifully horrible week. :)
Playgrounds are awesome. I prefer the swing set. But my true favorite is the tire swing. I used to swing on it all the time and scream at the top of my lungs (because it always seems to go faster than it appears). Okay, so maybe that was last week. :D
I feel the same way when I talk to teens my age. I never really know what to say. If I do say something it comes out awkwardly and I soon wish I could take it back. I could talk to little kids and older people for hours. I'm way more comfortable talking to people who aren't my age. Not sure why. :)
Thank you for posting both the good and bad parts of your week, Morning. <3 Your honest words and gorgeous pictures are truly refreshing. :)

    1. I think that around this time of year everyone (mainly in the Northern Hemisphere) gets the Summer time blues and wanting school to end, but man, it has been pretty stressful. I've never had a tree swing, but according to some of my friends they are the beast things! I think that trees, in general, are the world's first playgrounds before playgrounds were even invented! You can easily climb up them, play pretend (my favorite recess activity in elementsry school); its easily the best playground set ever!

When it comes to talking to other people our age, it mag be because we are old souls! Or it may be because people our own age are so wrapped in things that we don't necessarily indulge ourselves into. I have some friends, all who are older than me, but besides that is it, concerning our age group.

And aww, you are very sweet. But I was inspired I you to write this post! I know that people often do not like to read people's problems, but sometimes they should be let out to be heard. ^.^

  14. I've had a couple of those weeks. Last week wasn't particularly horrible...although it's Monday night right now and I'm feeling the tiredness creeping on me now. Last week was just more getting-through-it-without-knowing-what-I'm-doing. Yup. Way too many hyphens. I hope your week gets better =) I really liked the pictures of the cupcake, the swings, and the Gatorade water bottles. Yeah, it's so awesome talking to people that are my age. And that would be only one girl in my class who's pretty close to me ^-^ I have several other good friends, and not to say that they aren't awesome, (because they are :) but they're still quite a bit older than me. And then there are my little kiddo friends...but... yeah. I think that's why blogging is so awesome in that sense. You must be a pretty awesome actress =) I mean...yeah!

And then before you know it its been a month and then its turned into a year and on and on and on! Phew! I think that's the reason why I love theatre. Yes, we constantly wodkk on the same things but everyday ghere ks variety and a new chance to do it all over again. I wish I was a great actress, but I need a lot of work! :P

  15. We have a God who makes beautiful things out of the dust! I had a very full week, with recital yesterday and all. Good, hard, trying, and wonderful all at once. And your pictures are so unique! I love the swings! I used to play this game where I would kick off my shoes at the height of the swing and see how far they would go. The good ol' days!

    1. God creates such a beautiful things, doesn't he? I'm glad that your recital went well! Thank you! Swing games are great! As I kid, being this amazing daredevil young child, a friend of mine and I would have a swing jumping contest: when the swing reached its highest peak in the front, we would jump and try to land as far as we could! I lost most of the time, because my friend was taller than I was and had such a huge advantage! Ah, I miss the good ol' days, indeed!

I also know all too well what it's like to feel a void in your life when someone leaves. That's a part of growing up that is not easy, but I will tell you that you get better at moving on or having people move on from you. :)
