I Feel Like Katniss and Tris.

I finally know how it feels when Tris Prior or Katniss Everdeen trains.

Ever since last Friday, I have entered the one safe haven and the last huge break from school which, after that, stands between me and summer break. I have been doing my usual calming activities, especially drawing. Once the final bell last Thursday had rung, I went home, collapsed on my bed, drained of mental energy.

My brother and I have been watching the movie Big Hero 6 a total of five times in four days, and the first time was mainly because he could not do the fist bump correctly. Now, the two of us spontaneously start singing out Fred's Angels during the most random times of the day. It's amazing.

This pancake stands for an inside joke which I cannot look at without laughing.

Books, books, books. The training sequences in YA books such as Divergent and the Hunger Games can all sum up how track and field feels like this year. My legs are sore to the bone, and it hurts as I tremble walking up the stairs.

I have only been in my second day of training in a place which reminds me of Bibendum's-- or Baymax's-- stomach. The first day I accidentally practiced with the wrong school, ack! I am the youngest and shortest person there. Stamina is something that I must build up on. Nether the less I have met some pretty nice people, and though training is physically demanding, I leave feeling satisfied. I'll do better tomorrow.

Thanks so much for the abundance of comments you have all left me on Watch -- Part One! I'll post the next chapter on Friday.

What have you all been up to lately? Tell me in the comments!

  1. It get's easier! Trust me. Your legs will stop shaking and you'll get used to it. You've just got to build up those muscles. It hurts now, but it'll get so much better later. Just remember that and keep going:)

    1. My legs are still very sore and it's the fourth day... someone that I met on the track team said that some people just run and make it look easy because they actually run all year, but if it's been awhile since you've ran then we have to deal with two weeks of pain... all because of conditioning, and what not.

  2. I'm not one for organised sports, but I think it's so great that you're taking part in track and field (even though it's tough right now!). Before you know it you're going to be whizzing past everyone else, I think ;) Lovely photos - you can never watch BH6 too many times!

    1. I'm not much with organized sports either-- there are only certain sports that I absolutely love doing, and there are others that are just, "Meh." I'm the slowest one right now. And I have to agree you can't really watch Big Hero 6 too many times. I can't stop laughing at all of the jokes!

  3. Ugh the shaky legs are awful. Keep trucking on! Once you get through the first few weeks it'll get better. I think you're amazing for taking on the challenge of track and field. You're going to do great I'm sure!

  8. What is that amazing-looking food at the top of your post? It's so colorful!

I have yet to watch "Big Hero 6." Don't hate me! *cowers* But I've heard it's really good. :)

    1. The story for Big Hero 6 seems basic because there are elements that we have seen before, but it does get dark at some point... a lot of it has things to do with revenge and loss, and I'm glad that Disney isn't toning it back down. Also, the food at the top of the post are beans! :)

    1. Pancakes are yummy, yes! Big Hero 6 is basically about Hiro teaming up with Baymax and four of his friends to stop a man who caused his brother's death. And I know that sounds like a spoiler (eep!) but it's kind of implied if you watch the second trailer for the movie.

  10. Great photo of your drawing pencils. I admire anyone who is talented with drawing. And the pancakes look good, even if you won't let us in on your inside joke. ;)

    1. Thank you! I don't think I'm much talented at drawing, but I do remember that several days before I graduated the sixth grade, my art teacher told me to keep drawing. I still do, it's just that it's quiet a rarity. The pancakes are very good, and the joke has something to do with an incident and thoughts... XD

  11. You totally just made me want to watch Big Hero 6 again. And make pancakes. And draw. And run, because yeah it hurts, but like you said it feels satisfying in the end.

No like seriously I'm not even kidding when i was little I would get pancakes, drown them in maple syrup, and literally drink maple syrup off the plate. Am I oversharing?
Aww, I hope you feel better soon :) I can't even imagine the strain, but I guess it is really rewarding.
